the journey
Perrine DeShield is first-generation Liberian-American. Always fascinated with the world around her and constantly pulling inspiration from her heritage, Perrine started creating everything from songs and choreographed performances with her siblings to crafts and utilizing skills from Girls Scouts. For a while, her family thought she would become some kind of inventor because she was always coming up with new ideas.
Perrine obtained her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and communication studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her master's in fine arts degree from Savannah College of Art and Design in Luxury Fashion & Management.
Perrine currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has worked with Belk corporate headquarters for almost six years and obtained six roles with the brand ranging from project management, styling, marketing strategy and experiential events. In her more recent title, Perrine has had the opportunity to work with influencer partnerships, internal employee advocacy, as well as corporate community and culture.
As an avid podcaster, Perrine has created two shows, teaches podcasting workshops and is currently on the board for an upcoming Charlotte Podcast Festival.
Community remains a top priority for Perrine. She serves on the Young Professionals board for the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance and is part of a collective of black Charlotte creatives celebrating art and culture through the Durag Festival ®, BlkMrkt CLT and more.
Perrine was honored as one of Charlotte Pride Magazine’s Best of the Best 2019, was nominated as a Best of Belk finalist in 2019 and named one of the Top 30 Under 30 Future Leaders of Charlotte by Elevate Lifestyle magazine in 2018.
For years, Perrine has helped family members and friends grow their passions. She’s grateful to have an amazing team of creatives part of Eclecs. Our mission is to help unique artists, fellow creatives and small businesses tap into their purpose and grow.
